Often, on the JMT, you camp just before a pass so you can clear the pass with fresh legs. This small lake called Squaw Lake is just before Silver Pass. This lake is just above 10,000 feet and Silver Pass is just to the right of this peak here.
We were hustling to beat thunderstorms while crossing Virginia Lake, rushed past Tully Hole and setup our camps here just in time before rains hit us. Once the clouds cleared, we were blessed with one of the best sunsets we saw on the trail.
I had a leaking air mattress and I would spend an hour the next morning trying to submerge it in the lake trying to find out where the leak was. The adventures of being on a through hike!
So many alpine lakes on the JMT!
